I had this idea for a little while and thought it'd be a great way to express the fact that earth is simply a temporary home for us all.....for such a short time....and how very important it is that we live each day to it's fullest.

Temporary Home

Becky’s innocence turned to fear late one Friday night
her body black and blue from the man she thought she’d be with
for the rest of her life

a local shelter took her in, gave her a place to lay her head,
a shoulder to cry on, and a couple new friends
who’ve been through what she’s been through
walked for miles in her shoes
and sittin’ there on a shabby couch
holdin’ hands with their heads bowed
she said, “Thank you Lord for this old house
it ain’t much but it’ll do for now.”

It's a temporary home
A place to stay for a little while
Just a stop a long the road on
This journey we call life
And only Heaven knows
How long we’ll be here
Till we find ourselves in a better place….where the pains erased
And the laughter drowns the tears till they’re gone….
When we move on from this temporary home……

Eddie couldn’t believe his ears the day he was told
His family had to move from the farm they’d spent their life on
It was bein’ forclosed..

In two short years the ground dried up… made it hard to pay the bills
He had to do somethin’…but he didn’t have the skills
to find work, worth it’s wage
Ol’ McDonald hardly pays
But it covers the week by week motel
Better that sleepin’ in the oldsmobile
Each night, he says grace as he holds his kids
So grateful for a place to live
